Originaire de Californie, 30 Seconds To Mars est composé de Jared Leto (guitares et voix), Shannon Leto (batterie), Tomo Milicevic (guitares) et Matt Wachter (basse), qui a quitté le groupe en 2007 pour être pouvoir consacrer plus de temps à sa famille. Il est actuellement remplacé par Tim Kelleher qui n'est toujours pas officialisé... - -''. Connu pour ses prestations de comédien dans les films Fight Club ou La Ligne rouge, Jared Leto donne vie au groupe en 1997. En 2001, après avoir fait leurs preuves en jouant dans des bars, les acolytes livrent Welcome to the Universe, un premier single, qui se fait rapidement remarquer. L'année suivante, le groupe sort son premier album éponyme. Trois ans plus tard, l'opus A Beautiful Lie arrive dans les bacs. En février 2007, l'album est réédité.
